Today I am sharing with you a beautiful but easy to make Potato Snacks recipe. It is a budget friendly snacks recipe. You need some common ingredients to prepare this snacks, so you can make it anytime at home. It can be served as a tea time snacks/starter or with rice-dal.

Cooking time –30 minutes. Serve – 5/6

Ingredients –

1.Potato – 250 grams

2.Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp.

3.Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.

4.Curry leaves – 2 tbsp.(chopped)

5.Onion (medium) – 1 (finely chopped)

6.Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp.

7. Green chilly – 4 (finely chopped)

8.Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.

9. Salt to taste

10 .Asafoetida (Hing) – a pinch.

11.Lemon juice – 1 tsp.

Instructions for making potato balls——-

Boil the potatoes till soft. Peel the skins off. Great or smash the potatoes well. Set aside.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a frying pan . Reduce the heat ,add cumin seeds. When the cumin looks brown add mustard seeds. Allow to splutters. Add curry leaves, fry for 30 seconds. Add onion and hing—–fry for 1 minute. Add ginger-garlic, green chilly and turmeric powder. Saute for 2 minutes. Add the smashed potato ,salt,,lemon juice and mix well. Toss the potato for a minute. Remove pan from the heat, allow to cool. Now make small balls with the potato masala dough. Keep aside.

Ingredients for the batter—–

1.Gram flour (chana dal besan)–1 cup.

2.Corn flour – 1 tbsp.

3.Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.

4.Red chilly powder – 1/4 tsp.

5.Baking powder – a pinch.

6.Salt to taste

7. Oil for deep frying.

Instructions for making potato balls——-

Put gram flour in a large mixing bowl. To this add corn flour, salt ,turmeric and chilly powder, 1 tbsp of oil——mix well. Add water gradually and make a batter (slightly thicker than pan cake batter). Beat the batter for 4 to 5 minutes. The batter should becomes fluffy. Now add baking soda—-mix well and beat for 1 minute.

Heat enough oil in a frying pan, reduce the heat. Dip 3 to 4 balls in gram flour batter and drop into the hot oil. Fry on slow flame until they turn golden brown in color. Take out the fried balls with a slotted spoon, keep on paper towels.

Potato snacks is ready , sprinkle black pepper powder. Serve hot with ketchup.
