Potato Snacks/Potato Smiley/Mccain Smiles/Smiley With Desi Flavors.

Today I am posting a beautiful Potato Smiley recipe. It is a deep fried, non- spicy snacks, made with potato ,bread crumbs, corn flour, salt and pepper. But I have added some Desi masala to make it more delicious. The snack is very popular due to its crunchy, savory taste. especially due to is beautiful shape. I have deep fried the snacks ,but it can also be baked. It can be served as a tea time snacks.

Cooking time – 30 minutes. Serve – 4

Ingredients –

1.Potato – 400 grams.

2.Bread crumbs – 1/2 cup+

3. Corn flour – 2 tbsp.

4.Salt to taste.

5.Ginger-garlic paste—–1 tbsp.

6.Chilly powder –1 tsp.

7.Turmeric powder—1/4 tsp.

8.Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.

9.Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp.

10. Oil for frying.

Instructions.-

Boil the potatoes (with skin) till soft. Allow to cool. Peel the skin off and mash well. You can grate the boiled potatoes for better result. Set aside. Now heat 1 tbsp.of oil in a frying pan. Add ginger-garlic, chilly–turmeric -cumin powders and 1/4 cup of water. Saute on slow heat till oil separates. Keep the masala mix aside. Put the boiled potatoes in a large mixing bowl. To this add corn flour,bread crums, masala mix, lemon juice and salt. Mix the mixture well and make a lump free , smooth ,non-sticky dough. If there is more moisture to the dough add some bread crumbs and knead well. Apply little oil to the dough, cover it and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Grease e tray (or use butter paper), place the dough on it. Grease e rolling pin and roll the dough into a thick circle. Now cut round using a cookie-cutter or lid. Using a straw make eyes and use spoon to make a smile.

Heat white oil in a frying pan, when the oil is hot reduce the heat. Fry 5 to 6 smileys on slow heat till they turn goleden brown in color from the both sides. Increase the heat take out them from oil and keep on paper towels. Again reduce the heat and start the 2nd batch.

Beautiful Potato Smiley is ready, serve with Ketchup.
