Boil the sweet potatoes with skins. Transfer to a colander and allow to cool. Remove the skin . Mash or grate them well. In a large mixing bowl put the potato, flour, milk powder, baking powder and 1 tbsp of sugar. Knead well to form a soft dough. If you find the dough a little bit sticky just add little flour. Now make small balls from the dough. Now take a ball—insert 1 cardamom seed in the center of the ball. repeat the same process for rest of the balls. Cover the balls–set aside.

In a pan add 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water. Boil them for 5 to 6 minutes (stir in between). Remove pan from the heat. Add 1 tbsp of lemon juice and stir. Keep aside.

Heat enough oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot reduce the heat. Add the balls in the hot oil and keep shaking the balls at certain intervals so that they get cooked from all sides. Fry 4 to 5 balls at a time. Now increase the fire and fry the balls to golden brown and take out them from the oil and drop directly in the sugar syrup. Cover and give them at least 20 minutes soaking time.
