Wood Apple Pickles/Kat Bel(Kayet Bel )Makha.

Today I am sharing with you a mouthwatering Pickle dish recipe made with Katbel (Wood apple). It is a famous street food of kolkata generally found in winter season. It can be easily made at home. You need only few ingredients for making this beautiful pickle dish.

Preparation time – 10 minutes. Serve – 4

Ingredients –

1.Wood apple (ripe)- 1

2.Salt to taste.

3.Black salt —–1/2 tsp.

4.Sugar – 5/6 tbsp.

5.Green chilly – 2 (finely chopped)

6.Grated ginger – 1 tsp.

7.Coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 4 tbsp.

8.Mustard sauce (kashundi) – 2 tbsp.

9.Mustard oil – 2 tbsp.

Instructions –

Wash and crack the wood apple and scoop out the brown flesh(pulp) within. In a large glass bowl put the flesh and mash it into a smooth paste. To this add salt, black salt, sugar, green chilly, coriander leaves, mustard sauce and oil. Mix all the ingredients with a ladle/spoon(vigorously). Now the Wood apple pickle is ready to serve. For better taste you can keep the pickle in direct sunlight for 4 to 5 hours.
