Quick Snacks – Bombay Duck Fry / Lote Fish Fry.

Today I am sharing with you a very quick and easy to make snacks——Bombay Duck fry recipe. It is a budget friendly snacks recipe and tastes awesome. It is a popular street food, but you can make the dish very easily at home. It can be served as evening snacks or as a starter.

Cooking time – 30 minutes. Serve – 4.

Ingredients –

1.Fish (small) – 500 grams

2.Onion paste – 1tsp.

3.Ginger – garlic paste – 1 tsp.

4.Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.

5.Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp.

6.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.

7.Salt to taste.

8.Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.

10.Gram flour(besan) – 100 grams.

11.Corn flour – 2 tbsp.

12.Kalojeera – 1 tsp.

13.Baking soda – a pinch.

14.Gram flour (beson) – 1/2 cup.

15.Oil for deep frying.

16.Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.

Instructions –

Cut the head,tail,fins of the fish and wash well. Marinate with 1 tsp of salt and lemon juice. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes. The fish will release water.Squeeze out all the water. Keep the fishes in a flat bowl and sprinkle flour on them(on both sides). Keep aside.

Put gram flour in a large mixing bowl.To this add corn flour, onion-ginger-garlic paste, chilly-turmeric-garam masala powder, kalojeera,salt, 1 tbsp.of oil. Mix all the ingredients very well. Now add water gradually and make a thick batter(pouring consistency). At last add baking soda, and beat the batter for 5 to 6 minutes.

Heat oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot reduce the heat. Take one fish dip in the batter and drop into the hot oil. Fry on slow heat until brown on both sides.Increase the heat ,take out the fried fish with a slotted spoon and keep on paper towels. Fry 2 to 3 fishes at a time.

The delicious Bombay Duck fry is ready, sprinkle pepper powder and serve hot.
