Ladies Finger In Mustard Seeds Paste/Bengali Shorshe Dherosh

Today I am sharing with you a very simple recipe made with Ladies Finger and Mustard seeds paste. It I a traditional Bengali recipe, very tasty to eat and quick and easy to prepare.

Cooking time – 30 minutes.   Serve – 4.

Ingredients –

1.Ladies Finger – 300 grams.

2.Mustard seeds – 4 tbsp.

3.Nigella seeds(kalonji) – 1/2 tsp.

4.Green chilly – 2.

5.Slit green chilly – 4.

6.Salt to taste.

7.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.

8.Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.

9.Oil – 4 tbsp.

Method –

1.Wash the Ladies Finger and cut the conical tops and bottom. You can cut them into halves. Using 1/2 cup of water grind mustard seeds,2 green chilly to a paste, keep aside.

2.Heat oil in a frying pan, add kalonji. Stir fry for 30 seconds. Add the Ladies Finger, stir fry for 2 minutes. Add the mustard seeds paste,turmeric powder,sugar and salt. Saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Add 1 to 2 cups of water. Cook till all the water evaporates. When the oil starts floating on the top add slit green chilly.

Remove pan from the heat, cover and give 5 to 6 minutes standing time. Delicious Shorshe Dherosh is ready , serve with Rice or Roti.
