Veg Curry With Bottle Gourd Stems And Poppy Seeds/ Lau Shak- Posto.

Today I am posting a traditional Bengali dish—Lau Shak—–Posto recipe. It is a simple dish, non spicy and very quick and easy to prepare. It is a nutritious dish and you need only few ingredients to making this beautiful dish. It goes well with steamed rice.

Cooking time – 30 minutes. Serve – 4

Ingredients –

Lau Shak – 1 bunch

Potato – 200 grams.(Peeled and cut into small cubes)

Kalonji (kalojeera) – 1/2 tsp.

Poppy seeds – 50 grams

Green chilly – 2.

Slit green chilly – 4.

Salt to taste.

Sugar – 1/2 tsp.

Oil 2 tbsp.

Instructions.-

Take only the soft stems and leaves (top portion ) and cut into small pieces, wash and keep in a colander.Using 1/2 cup of water grind poppy seeds and 2 green chilly into a smooth paste, keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan,add kalonji and fry for 30 seconds. Add the cubed potato, fry for 2 minutes. Add the chopped shak and mix well. Cover the pan, cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the poppy seeds paste, salt,sugar,slit green chilly and 1 to 2 cups of water.Mix all the ingredients well. Cover the pan and cook until the vegetables are tender and there is no liquid left. Stir in between.

Delicious Bengali dish—–Lau Shak Posto is ready, serve with steamed rice.
