Bengali Style Sabudana Pakora (In Appam Pan)

Today I am sharing with you a famous Indian snacks sabudana pakora recipe. It is a deep fried snacks and very popular in Maharastra. They use pea nuts and  make veg. sabudana pakora. I used onion and garlic and one handful of plain corn flex instead of pea nuts. The snack is very testy to eat, light, crispy from outside and soft from inside. It is a nutritious snacks because it is a less oil recipe. I used Appam pan for making the snacks. You can use frying pan also. It can be served as a evening snacks or appetizer  Always use large sabudana to make this beautiful snacks.

Cooking time – 30 minutes.  Serve – 4

Ingredients –

  1. Sabudana – 100 grams.
  2. Potato (large) – 1 (boiled)
  3. Corn flex (plain variety) – one handful.(crushed)[It is optional]
  4. Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  5. Garlic cloves – 4 (finely chopped)
  6. Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp.
  7. Green chilly – 2 (chopped)
  8. Salt to taste.
  9. Sugar –a pinch.
  10. Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp.
  11. Pepper powder – 1 tsp.
  12. Oil for frying

Soak sabudana in 1/2 lit. of water for 4 to 5 hours . Using a strainer drain water completely. Keep the sabudana in strainer until use. Mash the boiled potato well. Heat one tsp.of oil, fry onion,ginger and garlic for one minute. Take out from the oil and keep in a large mixing bowl. To this add the mashed potato, sabudana,crushed corn flex,chilly,salt,sugar and garam masala powder. Mix all the ingredients well and make a dough.Divide the dough into small balls.

Heat a appam pan, pour very little oil in each mold. Fill the dough with the sabudana balls. cook on slow flame for few minutes or until golden brown on both sides(flip the balls in between). Take out the fried balls with a spoon, keep on paper towels.

Delicious and healthy Sabudana Pakora is ready. Serve hot with chutney/ketchup.
