Today I am sharing with you a very quick to make Chingri mach (shrimp) recipe made in microwave. It is a traditional Bengali recipe, generally made in pressure cooker or normal pan. It takes only 2 to 4 minutes in microwave. Time depends on the power of the microwave. It is a fabulous dish for lunch and incredibly delicious. It goes well with only plain rice.
Cooking time – 2 to 4 minutes. Serve – 4.
- Fish (medium size) – 500 grams.
- Mustard seeds – 4 tbsp.
- Poppy seeds – 2 tbsp.
- Shredded coconut – 1 cup.(1/2 portion)
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
- Green chilly – 2
- Slit green chilly – 4
- Salt to taste.
- Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
- Mustard oil – 4 tbsp.
Clean and wash the fish well. Marinate with 1/2 tsp.of salt,keep aside. By adding little water grind mustard seeds and 2 green chilly into a smooth paste. Put the paste in a small bowl and cover the bowl.
Again grind poppy seeds with little water. Add shredded coconut to poppy seeds. Grind again into a smooth paste.
Take a microwave safe bowl, put all the paste, turmeric,salt,sugar,oil and slit green chilly. Mix all the ingredients with a spoon. Add the fish,mix well. Cover the bowl with cling film. Prick the cling film with fork to release the vapor. You can partially cover the bowl with microwave safe lid. Microwave at high power for 2 to 4 minutes (stir in between).
Shrimp in microwave is ready, give 10 minutes standing time and enjoy the beautiful Bengali delicacy.
