Today I am posting a deep fried snacks recipe made with mutton keema. It is a popular street food in Kolkata. It is very quick and easy to prepare at home. It is a simple snacks but incredibly delicious. It can be served as a starter or as a tea time snacks. It is perfect for parties.
Cooking time – 45 minutes. Serve – 4
Ingredients – [for keema mix]
1.Mutton keema – 200 grams.
2.Onion – (finely chopped)
3.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
4.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
5.Turmeric powder – a pinch.
6.Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp.
7.Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp.
8.Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp.
9.Salt to taste.
10.Sugar – a pinch.
Wash the keema and drain excess water. Put the keema in a large bowl. To this add ginger,garlic,chilly,cumin,turmeric and mix well. Cover and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. Heat 2 tbsp.of oil in a frying pan,add onion. Saute till onion looks translucent. Add the keema mix,salt and sugar. Saute till oil separates. Add 1 and 1/2 cups of water, let it bring to boil. Cook till the keema becomes tender and the water dries up. Remove pan from the heat,mix garam masala powder. Cover the pan,keep aside.
Ingredients – [for the chop]
1.Potato (large) – 1 (boiled and peeled)
2.Bread crumbs – 2 cups.
3.Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.
4.Oil for deep frying.
5.Pepper and rock salt powders.
6.Egg – 1
Mash the potato. To this add keema mix, lemon juice and 2 tbsp.of bread crumbs. Mix properly and make a dough. It should be dry. If needed add extra bread crumbs. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Make round balls and flatten slightly. In a bowl break the egg and beat well. Put bread crumbs in a flat dish.
Heat oil in a frying pan,when hot reduce the heat. Take one keema ball,dip into the egg so that it is well coated with egg. Then coat with the bread crumbs. Fry it till brown on both sides. Mutton chop is ready. Raise the heat,take out the fried chop with a slotted spoon and keep on paper towels. Fry one chop at a time. Put the mutton chops in a serving tray,sprinkle pepper and rock salt powders and serve with salads and ketchup.
