Today I am posting a very simple side dish recipe made with Flat Beans. It is a traditional Bengali recipe,very quick and easy to prepare and with few ingredients. In Bengal it is called “Seem Chochchori”. It is a tasty dish and goes well with Rice or Roti.
Cooking time – 30 minutes. Serve – 4
1.Flat beans – 300 grams.
2.Tomato (chopped/puree) – 1
3.Mustard seeds – 3 tbsp.
4.Green chilly – 2.
5.Slit green chilly – 2.
6.Nigella seeds (kalonji) – 1/2 tsp.
7.Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.
8.Salt to taste.
9.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
10.Oil – 2 tbsp.
11.Chopped coriander leaves – 4 tbsp.
1.Wash the Flat beans. Using 1/4 cup of water grind mustard seeds and 2 green chilly to a paste.
2.Heat oil in a frying pan, add kalonji and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add flat beans and salt. fry for 3 to 4 minutes. Add mustard seeds paste,turmeric and 1/4 cup of water. Saute for 2 minutes. Add 1 to 11/2 cups of water, sugar and slit green chilly. Cook over medium heat until the flat beans are cooked. Keep cooking till all the water evaporates. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Remove pan from the heat, cover and give 5 minutes standing time.
Tasty Flat Beans curry is ready,serve with Rice or Roti.
