My today’s recipe is Matar Paneer – a traditional Indian recipe. It is a tasty side dish with rice,pulao,
rotis and parathas and is simple to make.
Cooking time – 45 mins. Serve – 4
1.Paneer(Cottage Cheese) – 250 gms.(Cut into small pieces)
2.Matar (Peas) – 300 gms.(Shelled or frozen)
3.Onion – 1(Grated)
4.Ginger paste- 1/2 teaspoon.
5.Garlic paste – 1/2 teaspoon.
6.Tomato – 1 (Chopped)
7.Red chilli pwd- 1/2 tspoon.
8.Cumin pwd – 1/2 tspoon.
9.Turmeric pwd – 1/4 tspoon.
10.Sugar – 1/2 tspoon.
11.Veg.Oil – 100 gms.
12.Salt – To taste.
13.Garam masala pwd – 1 tspoon.
14.Ghee (Optional) – 1tspoon.
1.Heat oil in a pan and fry paneer pieces till light brown.Remove the paneer pieces and clean out the pan.
2.Again heat oil in the pan,add onion and fry till golden brown.Add tomato pieces,sugar and saute for 2 mins.Add ginger-garlic paste,turmeric pwd,red chilli pwd,cumin pwd with 1/4 cup of water and saute until the raw smell of the masalas goes off.
3.Add peas and 4 tabspoon of water,stir fry for 2 mins.
4.Add 1 to 11/2 cup of water,let it bring to boil.Cook for about 7-8 mins.
5.Add fried paneer and simmer for about 5 mins.
6.Remove the pan from heat,add ghee and garam masala pwd,stir and cover the pan with lid.Rest for 10 mins.
Matar paneer is ready to serve.
