Fish 65 With bombay Duck /Lote Macher Snacks

To day I am posting a delicious side dish/snacks recipe made with Bombay Duck/Lote mach. It is a simple recipe and very quick and easy to prepare at home. Among the fishes, Bombay Duck is very cheap. So it is also a budget friendly recipe. It is a great appetizer,can be served as a snacks or as a side dish with ricr,roti/paratha.

Cooking time – 45 minutes  Serve – 4

Ingredients – (for the nuggets)

  1. Fish – 500 grams.
  2. Lemon juice – 2 tbsp.
  3. Onion paste – 2 tbsp.
  4. Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
  5. Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp.
  6. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
  7. Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp.
  8. Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
  9. Corn flour – 1/2 cup.
  10. Flour – 1/2 cup.
  11. Salt to taste.
  12. Sugar – a pinch
  13. Beaten egg – 1
  14. White oil for deep frying

Instructions –

Take the fishes,cut heads-tails and fins. Wash the fishes and pat dry. Slit the fishes vertically and discard main bones. Cut the boneless fishes into small pieces. Marinate the pieces with 1/2 tsp.of salt and lemon juice. keep aside for 10 minutes. The fish will release water. So after 10 minutes transfer the pieces in a colander to remove the water.

In a large mixing bowl  add all the ingredients (onion,ginger,garlic,chilly,turmeric,coriander,garam masala,sugar,salt,flour,corn flour and egg). Mix all the ingredients well. Now add the fish pieces and mix well.( Coat the fish pieces with the mixture). Keep aside for 5 minutes.

Heat oil in a frying pan. Group the fish into 4 batches. On medium heat fry each batch until golden brown. Fish nuggets is ready for the 65 preparation.

Ingredients – (for the sauce)

  1. Oil – 2 tbsp.(use the remaining oil)
  2. Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp.
  3. Curry leaves – a handful.
  4. Garlic (finely chopped) – 1 tsp.
  5. Ginger (grated) – 1 tsp.
  6. Green chilly (chopped/slit) – 4
  7. Kashmiri red chilly powder – 1 tbsp.
  8. Salt to taste.
  9. Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
  10. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.

Instructions –

Heat oil,add cumin seeds. fry till light brown. Add curry leaves,ginger,garlic,chilly and sugar. Saute for 1 minute. Dissolve Kashmiri chilly with 1/2 cup of water and add to the pan. Saute for 1 minute. Add the fish nuggets and mix well to coat the masala. saute for 2 minute on slow heat. If you want little gravy, dissolve 2 tbsp.of corn flour with 1 cup of water and add to the pan. Cook for 2 minutes.  Fish 65 with gravy is ready.
