  2. Plain flour – 1+1/2 cups.
  3. Corn flour – 1 tbsp.
  4. Milk – 2 cups (you can use water)
  5. Fennel seeds(mouri) – 1 tbsp.
  6. Black cardamom seeds – 1 tsp(from one pod)
  7. Sugar – 2 cups.+2 tbsp.
  8. Water – 1+1/2 cups.
  9. White oil/veg.oil – for deep frying.
  10. Chopped dry fruits for garnishing.

Instructions –

Sugar syrup – Put sugar and water in a pan. Place the pan on medium heat. Stir till sugar dissolves. Cook for few minutes till a thick syrup is formed. Remove pan from the heat, keep aside.

In a large mixing bowl put flour, corn flour, fennel seeds, cardamom seeds and 2 tbsp.of sugar. Mix well. Add milk or( milk+water) or water. Mix well to make a thin batter. The batter should be smooth (like crepes batter). Cover and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. Using a small steel bowl cut the bread slices into round shape.

Heat enough oil in a frying pan. (You can add little ghee also.) Reduce the heat. Take a slice dip in the flour batter and drop in the hot oil. For this do not use your palm, use a spatula. Take out the coated bread slice from the batter with a spatula and drop in the hot oil.Otherwise the bread slice will tear. Fry the bread till light brown on both sides. Increase the heat, take out the fried bread slice with a slotted spoon, keep on paper towels. Reduce the heat, repeat the same process.

Warm the sugar syrup and remove pan from the heat. Drop the fried malpuas into the sugar syrup. After 10 minutes shift the malpuas in a serving dish, garnish with chopped dry fruits and serve. Hope you will like this budget friendly delicious sweet recipe, Enjoy.
