Bengali Recipe–Postor Bora/Poppy Seeds Fritters.

Hi Friends,

Today I am posting a simple snacks recipe made with poppy seeds. It is a home made Bengali recipe, very popular and takes few minutes to prepare and with few ingredients. It is a veg.snacks,tasty,juicy (because I have add shredded coconut). It can be served with rice/dal or as evening snacks.

Cooking time – 20 minutes.  Serve – 4

Ingredients –

  1. Poppy seeds – 1 cup.
  2. Shredded coconut – 1 cup.
  3. Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp.
  4. Green chilly – 2 (finely chopped)
  5. Turmeric powder – a pinch.
  6. Salt to taste.
  7. Sugar – 1/2 tsp.
  8. Wheat flour – 1 tbsp.
  9. Oil for deep frying.

Instructions –

Grind the poppy seeds into a coarse powder. Transfer it in a large mixing bowl. To this add coconut,ginger, turmeric, chilly,salt,sugar and wheat flour. Mix well and make a dough. Do not add water,the dough should be thick (if needed mix little wheat flour). Cover the bowl,allow it to rest for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into small balls and flatten. Heat oil in a frying pan, when it is hot reduce the heat. Fry the poppy seeds balls until light brown on both sides. Take out with a slotted spoon, keep on paper towels. Fry 3 to 4 balls at a time.

Delicious Poppy Seeds Fritters is ready, serve hot. Hope you will like this simple recipe.
