Today we are going to make a delicious side dish recipe – Khoya Mator. It is popular side dish in North India. It is a tasty dish made with green peas and milk solids, and very easy to prepare.
Cooking time – 45 minutes. Serve – 4
1.Green peas – 1 cup.
2.Khoya – 1/2 cup.
3.Tomato – 1 (chopped)
4.Onion – 1 (chopped)
5.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
6.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
7.Ghee – 2 tbsp.
8.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
9.Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.
10.Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp.
11.Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp.
12.Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp.
13.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
14.Salt to taste.
15.Oil – 2 tbsp.
16.Cashew nuts for garnishing
1.Heat ghee in a non-stick frying pan. When hot reduce the heat,add the khoya .Fry the khoya on slow flame for 4-5 minutes. Stir continuously so that khoya does stick to the pan. Remove from heat and transfer it to a bowl. Clean out the pan.
2.Heat 2 tbsp. of oil ,add cumin seeds. When it splutters add onion and fry till onion looks transparent. Add tomato,saute for 2-3 minutes. Add ginger,garlic,cumin,chilly,coriander,sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Saute until the raw smell of the masalas goes off. Add peas and 1/2 cup of water and saute for 4-5 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and salt and cook till peas are soft. If needed add little water.Crumble the khoya and add to the pan, mix well. Saute for 4-5 minutes.
Remove pan from heat, mix garam masala powder and cover the pan. Give 10 minutes standing time. Khoya Mator is ready to serve. Garnish with cashew and serve with roti/naan/paratha.
