Green Curry With Peas /Healthy Peas Gravy/Karaishuntir Curry

Hi friends,
Today we are going to make a green gravy made with green peas. It is a great side dish for roti or paratha. This is an easy recipe, looks very beautiful and very tasty to eat.

Cooking time – 45 minutes.   Serve – 4.
Ingredients –
1.Green peas – 2 cups.
2.Tomato – 1 (chopped)
3.Onion – 1 (chopped)
4.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
5.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
6.Ghee – 2 tbsp.
7.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
8.Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.
9.Green chilly – 4
10.Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp.
11.Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp.
12.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
13.Salt to taste.
14.Oil – 2 tbsp.
15.Bay leaves – 2
16.Cashew or cream for garnishing.
Method –
1.Grind 1 cup of peas with green chilly and 1/2 cup of water into a paste. Heat ghee in a frying pan, when hot reduce the heat. Add the peas paste. saute with stirring continuously. Cook until there is no liquid left. Remove pan from heat and transfer the paste to a bowl. Clean out the pan.
2.Heat oil in the frying pan, when hot reduce the heat and  add cumin seeds. When the cumin splutters add bay leaves and onion, fry till onion looks transparent. Add tomato, stir fry for 2-3 minutes. Add ginger-garlic, cumin – coriander and 1/2 cup of water, saute until the raw smell of the masalas goes off. Add 1 cup of green peas,sugar and 1/2 cup of water, saute for 4-5 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and salt, cook till peas are soft (stir occasionally) Now add the peas paste,mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes (if needed add little water and stir continuously)
3.Remove pan from heat, add garam masala powder, mix well and cover the pan. Give 10 minutes standing time. Peas green curry is ready to serve .Garnish with cashew/cream and serve with roti/paratha/naan…
