Healthy Papaya Curry/ Potato- Papaya curry/Aloo-Papita Curry

Hi friends,
My today’s recipe is Papaya Curry – a traditional Bengali recipe made with raw papaya,potato and green peas. The curry is healthy, tasty and easy to make.

Cooking time – 40 minutes. Serve – 4
Ingredients –
1.Raw papaya (big size) – 1
2.Potato (big size) – 1 (peeled and cut into cubes)
3.Green peas – 1/2 cup.
4.Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp.
5.Tomato – 1 (chopped)
6.Bay leaf – 2
7.Ginger paste – 1/4 tsp.
8.Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
9.Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp.
10.Chilly powder – 1/2tsp.
11.Oil – 4 tbsp.
12.Ghee – 1 tbsp.
13.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
14.Sugar – 1/2 tsp.
15.Salt to taste.
16.Wheat flour – 1 tbsp.
17.Milk – 2 tbsp.
18.Slit green chilly – 4 (for garnishing)
Method –
1.Peel papaya very well, cut into halves and remove seeds and hard skin from the center. Wash and grate using a grater. Boil grated papaya for 5-6 minutes, drain and keep aside.
2.Heat oil in a frying pan,when hot reduce the heat and add cumin seeds. When it splutters add bay leaves and potato, stir fry till light brown. Add ginger,tomato,turmeric,cumin,chilly,sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Cook until the raw smell of masalas goes off with stirring constantly. Add papaya, green peas,salt and 1/4 cup of water. Mix well and saute for 4-5 minutes with stirring constantly.
3.Add I cup of water, cook till liquid dries up.
4.In a bowl dissolve flour with milk and add to the pan, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes with  continuous stirring till milk dries up.
5.Remove pan from heat,mix ghee and garam masala powder and cover. Give 10 minutes standing time. Garnish with green chilly and serve with rice/roti…
