My today’s recipe is chocolate ice cream sandesh – a Bengali delicacy prepared with cottage cheese/paneer/chana and chocolate.It is very delicious and very easy to make at home.
1.Cottage cheese – 200 grams.
2.Chocolate – 200 grams.
3.Condense milk – 4 tbsp.
4.Powdered sugar – 2 tbsp.
5.Pistiachio – 10 (sliced).
6.Butter – 1 tsp.
1.Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler.
[ Double boiler – put the chocolate in a pot placed over a bowl of water. Boil the water on medium flame, stir the chocolate slowly.In a few minutes chocolate will melt.]
2.Blend the cottage cheese with sugar in a blender. Keep it in a bowl. Add melted chocolate and condense milk, mix well. The sandesh mixture is ready.
3.Take a steel tiffin box, grease butter in it. Pour the sandsh mixture in the tiffin box, flatten it to form a smooth layer. Cover the tiffin box with lid. (you can use metal foil also)
4.Pour 2 cups of water into a pressure cooker,put grid in cooker. Place the tiffin box on grid. Close the cooker, bring to full pressure on high heat.Reduce heat and cook for 20 minutes.( you can steam over boiling water till set)
5.Remove cooker from heat and let it cool.
6.Open cooker, take out uncover the tiffin box. Allow to cool to room temp.Put it in a fridge for 2 hours.
Chocolate ice cream sandesh is ready to serve.Cut the sandesh in square pieces, garnish with sliced pistiachio and serve as a dessert for a party.
